So cute...

No creative pursuits to speak of today. Loads of laundry and straightening will be filling my day. I did want to share something I posted on the Studio Calico message board. Each Reveal night people do fun things with their avatars. The theme today is childhood photographs. I just couldn't resist using one of these photos of me with these puppies!!  Is this not the cutest photo ever?

He can fly!!

I'm so proud of our boy!! He joined the Middle School track team this year and is competing in long jump, triple jump and 4x 100m relay. I'm not sure how he finished but I LOVE these photos. He's flying!!! Awesome job, my man!

Creatively, I finished the month in review layout for March for the challenge I'm participating in. I had a hard time with this one. The first two months I was able to crop the photos into either landscape or horizontal and it just didn't work for this. Got it done, so that's what counts!! I know I'm going to love having this to look back on one day. :)

remembering...

I finished this layout Sunday night. Oh man, I miss these little guys. Little chubby cheeks and sweet little kids that just wanted hugs and snuggles. I love that they are still close and share a wonderful bond, but these photos just melt my heart! I think I'm going to break my golden rule and scrap these photos again so that they can be in each of their albums. (Oh, but then I'll need them too! so maybe 2 more times.) This one is for Emily's album. She is one lucky girl to have such a great big brother!

What do you want for dinner?

The running commentary at my house is- "What do you want for dinner?" The thing is I really enjoy cooking, but deciding what to cook is a a struggle. I thrive on variety. I ask this at our house often also because it's nice to know you are cooking something they want. :)

I had planned to make Pulled Pork Sandwiches tonight, but we got home late this afternoon after church, lunch and errands and had to be back at church early for youth activities at church. So there just wasn't enough time. That left me with throwing something together with some ground meat I had just bought. I asked DH "What do you want for dinner?" and he said, "Tacos or you know that layered thing you make." So, problem solved. I set off later to fix a Mexican Lasagna but didn't have enough cheddar cheese. I did have some Velveeta, so that got me thinking....I went to my dusty, rubberbanded stack of recipe cards (most of my recipes are on the laptop now) and found this recipe I had either made up or modified called, "Richard's Taco Bake."

Here's the recipe. It's at my cooking blog called " What's Cooking at the Davis'" I just realized I need to add a link to the side. :)

finally off my table

I must have been busy recently because this layout has been on my table for at least a week. I do have to say, at least the longer it stayed, the better it looked. I'm really struggling to be creative on DS pages. The sewing was added as a last touch. I discovered it's not that hard to sew in a circle, but it is a little tough to maneuver a 12 x 12 piece of paper around the machine. Oh well, they tell me perfection is over-rated right?

Off to enjoy this beautiful day. Going to hit the trail with the dog! The weekend is supposed to feature less than perfect weather so I better enjoy it while I can.

One last image, these are continuing to make me happy every time I leave and come home!! So happy I took the time to plant these last fall.

Inspired...

This morning I stopped by the wonderfully talented Rebecca Sower's blog. She shared these words today and they spoke to me. She creates such beautiful "vintagey" handmade things and obviously is quite eloquent! I asked her if I could share her thoughts this morning here and she kindly said yes!

This is a photo of our trail last summer. I can't wait for it to look like this again!

The Blessings of Easter

May be promise of Easter fill your hearts this day and always!!
We've enjoyed a beautiful day, despite the cold and dreary weather. Inspiring church sermon, a lovely meal and a Easter Egg Hunt with coats on! :)

Rainy GOOD Friday

Despite the rain, today is full of promise of good things yet to come. :) Upset I can't go run on the trail, but plan on forcing myself to go to the gym in the next 30 minutes or so.

In the ongoing following of my tulips in the front yard. (Riveting information I'm sure.) It looks like they might be holding out for Easter! Their little buds are still cloaked in the green coverings with only a tiny bit of red peaking out. I'm bursting with anticipation. Really, I am. :)

I wanted to share a digital scrapbook page I created this week. I go through phases of creating digital pages. The graphic designer in me finds it very comfortable to create on the computer, but I do really love working with paper too. I was so thrilled to be asked a while ago to join the Creative Team for JZ Designs but unfortuately I got off to a slow start. Anyway, Jill creates awesome templates and other digital elements that are so easy and fun to work with. I hope to add her blinkie here on the right, but I haven't gotten it yet. So here's a link to her shop. JZDesigns Faith Sisters Shop This layout was created with Template #13 should be released today.

Love this photo! I realized I don't have this photo anywhere in the house so I printed a small version of this layout and put it in a frame in my office. So sweet!

Sharing and preparing for spring

Last night, I finally finished the layout that's been sitting on my desk for the last few days. Yea! I was so excited when I saw this add-on kit at Studio Calico last month. I was immediately reminded of these photos that were waiting in my binder to be scrapped. Once I got the kit in last month, I just couldn't get the mojo together to do the page. I finally seemed to run out of other pages to do with the main kit, well, and the other add-on I bought. :) So went for it!

It was another cold night here. Had to cover my tulips. I think they'll make it. Should be blooming any time now. I decided to cut some of my Daffodils and put them in a vase to enjoy inside. So pretty. I planted several varieties that seem like they are all going to come up and bloom at different times. This southern girl is so excited!

Started seeds for my vegetable/herb garden I'll be starting around the house in the back. They came up much faster than I thought. I'm now afraid they'll be ready too soon.

In addition to these seedlings, I'm nursing young geraniums in my office. I hope they make it. If they don't, at least I'm enjoying them now. I purchased them as part of a fund raiser for a group I belong to and didn't realize when I signed up for them it would be too early to put them out.

And just because he walked into the room and laid down while I was taking pictures of the geraniums, the ever lovable, goldendoodle, Tucker. I love when he sleeps in here while I work. :)

Horsing around and not...

Just been busy with life. Yesterday took my daughter's Girl Scout troop horseback riding. Fun time, but my rear is a little sore. It's a good thing that since church this morning, I've not been on my rear. Out spring/Easter shopping with Emily. Good times together just the two of us.

Have a project on my desk nearly finished. Hope to carefully hand write the journaling and post it tomorrow. I say carefully, because I have to really take my time with writing. I can have such a jumbled chicken scratch if I don't really slow down and take my time.

Off to watch a movie with DH and snuggle under a blanket. It might snow tonight. UGH!! I'm so ready for some warmer weather.

No Fooling... It's a great day!

Yesterday was so blah, except for starting a new bible study at church. It was cold and windy and so not spring like. I'm just so ready for spring.

But today is a different story. Sun is shinning, not near as cold and windy. Did step aerobics today at the club. It's been a long time since I've done that. My foot really started hurting toward the end, but it was really fun. I forgot how much I enjoy the music and "dancing". It was so nice outside when I got home I took Tucker, our goldendoodle, for a walk too. He was happy!

Then I finished a layout I started last night based on a sketch challenge posted at the Studio Calico blog. I am just all over their challenges! Not sure why I haven't done more challenges in the past. So much fun and I feel so accomplished when I've finished. And to top it all off I have another cute page done!! That makes a great day in my book!
