A Little fishy

Hi!This layout was part of Water Week at GCD Studios.  I choose fish to highlight today because my family recently went on a snorkel trip while on vacation in Maui.

Initially, I wasn't sure I was going to include an actual fish. The design element I started with was fish scales :)

Here's the page. As you can see I decided a cute little fish needed to be included. ;)

I started making the scales by misting a white piece of cardstock with Cornflower, Sunflower, Turquoise, and finally White metallic mists.

 
Misting is pretty messy.  You might want to contain the over spray with a box and maybe even some scrap paper.

In the end, decided I did want to create a simple fish to go on my page.   I used a leaf shape to create this cutie.

Here are the pieces I used.  The grey tail fin was cut with a curved "V" and the dorsal fins are just a smaller leaf cut in half.  These are some leaves I had in my stash, but you could easily freehand a leaf shape as well.

I just love the iridescent quality of the metallic spray. It's the perfect touch for shimmery fish scales. :)

Here's another look at the layout.  I'm glad I interpreted the "fish" assignment more just than a literally and included a conceptual inspiration as well.
